Thank you for choosing JALAS, a brand that stands for the most technically advanced safety footwear on the market. Through proper care, you can greatly increase the lifespan of your shoes and keep their protective properties.
Caring for your Jalas Footwear
- Store your shoes in a dry, airy environment. Clean the surface of the shoes and the soles before storing.
- Do NOT wash your JALAS shoes in a washing machine – this will impair the properties of the upper materials. The protective properties of the footwear and overall structure may also be damaged. We recommend wiping with a damp cloth, using a mild detergent.
- Drying of footwear after use is important. If the shoes get wet, allow them to air at room temperature max (+ 30 ºC) until dry. Be sure to remove the insoles during drying.
Tip: It is a good idea to put newspaper inside the shoes when drying as this absorbs extra moisture.
SHOCK ABSORBING INSOLES
All JALAS footwear have removable insoles. After use each day, remove the insoles to allow them to dry. This also helps remove moisture from inside the shoe and prevents unwanted odours from forming. The original insoles as well as the FSS insoles can be washed by hand with a mild detergent and dried naturally at room temperature max + 30 ºC.
All JALAS footwear have been tested and certified with JALAS insoles, other insole brands are not recommended.
OUTSOLES
We recommend cleaning the outsoles at regular intervals. Accumulated dirt, grease and loose stones, etc. may impair the properties of the sole (eg ESD, grip). Regardless of the shoe material, outsole cleaning can be carried out either directly under running water, with the aid of a brush, or by soaking the shoes in a bowl, ensuring the water does not rise above the edge of the sole, and then lightly brushing. Dirt is best removed with warm water, not hot water.
PU LEATHER / UPPER LEATHER
Our leather shoes are sprayed with a protective sealant at the factory, but we recommend that the treatment should be renewed at regular intervals with a protective spray for leather products that saturates the leather and protects it from moisture / dirt. Dust, debris and other dirt should be cleaned after each use either with a shoe brush or by wiping with a damp cloth. Leather cream or polish should be used to treat leather shoes regularly.
NUBUCK AND SPLIT
Nubuck and split shoes get dirty much more easily than leather shoes. They are sprayed with a protective sealant at the factory, but we recommend treating the shoes, depending on the conditions of use, with a rich layer of impregnating or protective agent before the first use. That treatment should be renewed at regular intervals. After use, brush loose dust off the shoes with a soft brush. For more efficient cleaning, use a suede brush or rubber
MICROFIBER / ARTIFICIAL LEATHER
Dust, debris and other dirt should be cleaned after each use either with a shoe brush or by wiping with a damp cloth. Do not use protective sprays or shoe polish on artificial leather.
TEXTILE
Protect the textile, before use and at regular intervals with a protective spray for textiles. Brush loose dirt and dust after use with a soft brush, stains can be removed with a lightly dampened
cloth.
ZIPPERS
Remove dirt from the zipper before using the zipper. Excess particles in the zipper teeth may break the zipper closing mechanism if the zipper is used before cleaning the chain. Use a damp cloth to remove dried dirt, a toothbrush can also help remove hardened dirt. The oil / grease helps the zipper mechanism to slide as long as the chain is first cleaned.
