UKCA
New labelling of PPE goods for the UK market. The CE marking will be gradually phased out, and the UKCA marking will be phased in.
The UK left the EU on 31st of January 2020 and was in a transition phase
where EU legislation still applied until the end of December 2020. Since that
time, the UK has adopted its own legislation regarding placing PPE goods
onto the UK market. The European PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 has been
brought into UK law to become the UK PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 (as
amended and brought into UK law).
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking
that is used for products being placed on the market in Great Britain
(England, Wales and Scotland). The UKCA marking came into force on
1st of January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new
requirements, we will still be able to use the CE marking until 1st of January
2025.
On the 14th of November 2022 the UK government amended their guidance
on the requirements for UKCA marking. The changes are described
as “easements” to the previously published guidance and will allow
manufacturers to apply the UKCA mark on the basis of their existing CE type
examination completed before 31st of December 2024, for the lifetime of
the certificate issued, or until 31st of December 2029 (whichever is sooner).
The UKCA marking and importer information can be placed on a label affixed
to the product or on a document accompanying the product until 31st of
December 2027.
Ejendals stock situation will affect when products with UKCA marking will
be picked and sent to customers. Some models are already in the warehouse
Leksand with UKCA marking. This means that for some models the customer
might receive one size with UKCA mark but another size of the same product
without the mark.
After 1st of January 2025 all models shipped to UK must have UKCA marking,
either permanently attached from production or with a sticker.
