Midsummer is a grand day out togheter with family and friends. The celebration involves flowers in your hair, dancing around a pole, singing songs while drinking schnapps. Eating pickled herring served with delightful new potatoes, chives and sour cream.
Midsummer Eve 2022 is on Friday, 24 June. It's always celebrated on a Friday between 19 and 25 June.
Midsummer is the longest day of the year and was long considered a magical night. In agrarian times, the Swedes arranged Midsummer celebrations to welcome summertime and the season of fertility. These days it`s almost like our National Day and everyone is invited!
Midummer is celebrated all over Sweden and preferably on the countryside. If you’re looking for the full experience, including people dressed up in traditional Swedish folk costumes, professional folk music and dancing, parade with the garlands, maypole raising and perhaps even a church boat race, Leksand, Dalarna is the place to be.

The songs and dances around the May pole are many and the weirdest one is probably "Små grodorna" which translates to "The little frogs". In this video you can watch when Leksand broke the world record with 10,000 people dancing "The little frogs" in 2019.
